01 What was going on

Atenas FM 105.3, in Alfenas, lives on fresh news and on-air sponsors, and it ran on a simple website with no structure to sustain either. A first attempt to reuse a ready-made platform stalled against its limits, and the decision was to rebuild the foundation.

We designed the platform as a single system: a central data layer, with query APIs that connect the website, the panel and the app to the same source, so what the team publishes shows up in all three at once, with no rework and no divergence.

02 What had to change

Fresh content had to go live in seconds and load fast, because a reader who waits leaves.

The team had to run everything alone, from a panel designed for a newsroom routine, without depending on technical support to publish or swap an ad.

Sponsorship is revenue, so each ad had to take the contracted position, go on and off the air in the agreed period, and not depend on someone remembering to switch it on and off.

Website, panel and app could not become three different truths. A change had to reach all three at once, and every contact coming from the site had to reach the team right away.

03 What we delivered

News website with rendering and caching designed for speed and reader retention, panel to manage news, schedule and media, ad engine by position, period and status, iOS and Android app, query API layer integrating the databases, real-time notifications for the team, audience metrics inside the panel, domain migration with redirects.

04 How it was made

Website

We built the website for speed and for holding the reader: pages are generated and served from cache and renew themselves the moment the panel publishes, so a new story appears without reloading the whole system. Data is only accessed on the server, never exposed to the browser, and audience measurement is only enabled with the visitor's consent.

The identity follows the station's: blue and red, the 3D wooden radio in the opening and the player always at hand, so listening stays one tap away while reading.

Management panel

A dedicated application, separate from the website, with its own login. The team manages news, schedule, media and ads in one place. An ad is registered once, with its position and run window. The panel resolves its status (active, scheduled, ended) and tells the site to refresh, so the change takes effect immediately.

Every contact received through the site is routed as a notification in the panel and on the administrators' phones, and audience numbers are read back into the panel, so the team can decide without leaving it.

App

An iOS and Android app from a single codebase, reading from the same data source as the website. It has a home with the headline and latest news, a schedule grid, article reading with a listen-aloud option and the radio player fixed on screen. Ads come in the same mold as each list's items, without breaking the reading, and the team edits news straight from the app.

Migration

The switch happened at the domain: we pointed the station's address to the new platform and redirected the "www" variant, so no visit lands on an error screen.

09 What changed afterwards

The team publishes and controls sponsorship on its own, from a panel designed for its routine, and listeners got a fast website and an app reading from the same source.

The website, the panel and the app are live and were tested by the team on Android and iPhone.
